We are here: the starting signal for “One day in practice” has been given!
A new project was launched in East Thuringia after the winter vacations: “One Day in Practice”. A model designed to enable pupils to try out different professions and get a taste of practical experience. And we are of course involved. Pupils can get a taste of the two training professions of precision optics and microtechnology with us.
What is “One Day in Practice”?
One Day in Practice is a project that enables young people to try out different professions during normal school hours. The pupils are allowed to choose a company and profession. They then go into practice for several weeks, one day a week. At the end of the rotation, they change and can gather new impressions for another job.
The project is currently starting with the 8th grades of the participating schools in East Thuringia. The project was initiated by the Federal Employment Agency, the Free State of Thuringia and the East Thuringian Education Authority, among others. Various companies in the region are involved.

One Day in Practice at POG
In this project, we are offering 4 interships to immerse themselves in the world of precision optics and microtechnology.
Natalie, Eric, Michel and Markes will visit us for 7 hours every Thursday for the next 5 weeks and discover what is important in their chosen profession. In the various departments, they will learn all the steps involved in processing and manufacturing the high-precision optics and will then be able to practise making a telescope themselves, which they can of course take home with them as a souvenir of what they have achieved. Accuracy and dexterity are particularly important qualities that they can practise and test during the internship.
By participating in this project, we want to offer the pupils the chance to try out the professions and find out about their own strengths, weaknesses and preferences. At the same time, it offers a good opportunity to gain different insights during their time at school, to sharpen their team spirit and to boost their career orientation.
